HILLIANS WIN AGAIN
Bexhill Res 0 Burgess Hill Town Ladies 6 [ Leonie Diatta (2) Sadie Ashby (2) Jade Chapman , o/g ]
The Hillians made it 6 consecutive unbeaten games , having won 5 and drawn one, when they completed the double over Bexhill.
Within a couple of minutes the Hillians had two shots that were wide of the target
but in less than 15 minutes they were in the lead , a well judged pass from Maria Bardea enabling Leonie Diatta to fire in from outside the area on the right.
It took only a couple of minutes for Diatta to score again to double the Hillians lead .
After finding themselves adjudged to be offside on several occasions Captain Sadie Ashby saw her shot just inside the post creep under Bexhills keepers diving body to put her team 3-0 ahead .
Shortly afterwards Bexhill were awarded a disputed penalty for a foul which, had VAR been in use, would have been overturned . Justice was done however when keeper Kalila Golding-Huckle, making her full debut, saved the penalty kick.
With the Hillians back 4 of Gittins, Nash, Harvey and Bucur in control one further goal was added before half time , following a corner a Bexhill defender diverted the ball into her own net.
The urgency went out of the game in the 2nd half but nevertheless the Hillians added 2 further goals with Jade Chapman firing in low from outside the area and Ashby scoring her 2nd.
The Hillians did what they needed to do and concentrated to a large extent on developing their tactical play , Bexhill made Leonie Diatta Hillians “Player of the Match”
whilst Manager Mark Bishop chose keeper Kalila Golding-Huckle on her full debut as his “Player of the Match “
Next Sunday 3rd Feb the Hillians are on the Cup trail again , playing away to Premier Div side Kent based Phoenix in the ¼ final of the League Cup
