Oakwood 1 Burgess Hill Town Ladies 3 [Maria Bardea, Jade Chapman , Caitlin Garden ]
Having climbed to 4th place after beating 2nd placed Mole Valley the previous week the Hillians maintained their impressive climb up the table by doing the double over Crawley based Oakwood.
They now are in 3rd place just 8 pts behind Mole Valley with 4 games in hand with an impressive record of 8 wins and one draw in their last 9 games
It took just one minute for the Hillians to take the lead , Millie Morley crossing from the left and Maria Bardea firing home from close range in the resulting melee.
In general the Hillians were well in control of the game with the back four of Ellie Lawrence, Penny Gittins , Hayley Nash and Hannah Harvey playing with great understanding.
Up front Dee Vilcui, Morley and Jess Gray all had chances to increase their lead before Jade Chapman scored from close range after half an hour following a cross from Morley , this time from the right
With less than 5 minutes of the half remaining a rare defensive error enabled Oakwood to reduce the deficit ,
and halftime came with the Hillians leading by just the one goal , not a fair reflection of their dominance
The 2nd half commenced in the same way as last weeks game , the Hillians opponents determined to get back into the game.
Whilst working hard in the unusually warm weather the Hillians were unable to play with the same fluency as in the first half and Oakwood looked the more threatening.
At times only very determined work by the Hillians enabled them to maintain their lead , however in one breakaway move , with just a couple of minutes remaining ,
enabled Hillians substitute Caitlin Garden to score and calm players and supporters alike
Manager Mark Bishop named Jade Chapman as his "Player of the match" whilst for the 2nd game running hard working Maria Bardea was named as Hillians "Player of the match" by the opponents as the team demonstated once again their "never say die" attitude , working hard for each other
