BURGESS HILL TOWN LADIES

ROMANIANS SCORE ALL 6 GOALS FOR BURGESS HILL

SCFA Women's Challenge Trophy Burgess Hill Town Ladies 6 [Maria Bardea 4, Diana Vilciu 2] Roffey Ladies 2

This game had an international flavour with the Hillians fielding 2 Romanian, 1 German and one Spanish player in their starting line up

Romanian Maria Bardea opened the scoring within a couple of minute and midway through the half her fellow compatriot Diana Vilciu added a 2nd following a Jade Chapman freekick that rebounded off the crossbar.

Bardea added her 2nd , receiving the ball from Spaniard Marina Sanchez shortly afterwards and in the dying minutes of the half Vilciu added her 2nd , receiving a long ball across the flanks from Ellie Lawrence.

In the 2nd half it was clear that with the job basically done , and with a tough Cup game away the Worthing on Tuesday evening the players contented themselves for long periods in playing a passing game , and keeper Casey Dunford was called upon to make a good save

Nevertheless midway through the half Bardea scored twice to complete Hillians scoring although at times Roffey's goal seemed to have a charmed life as it withstood a constant bombardment with shots being blocked or going wide, Jade Chapman twice firing just wide from far out and many attempts by Hillians players being blocked by Roffeys defenders .

Manager Aaron Conniff-Broome made Maria Bardea his "Player of the match" whilst Megan Gilligan made her debut in the 2nd half and showed she will be an asset to the team

Near the end of the game the Hillians were a bit careless and conceded 2 unnecessary goals but they now look forward to a home 1/4 final game v Crawley based Oakwood on Dec 16th
