The Hillians come from behind to win a tough game

Burgess Hill Town Ladies 2 [Maria Bardea , Diana Vilciu ] Oakwood 1

With several players having to make late withdrawals the Hillians were only able to field 12 outfield players and went behind in the 5th minute following a corner. It took only a couple of minutes however for Diana Vilciu to put the Hillians back on level terms , heading in from a corner.

With the game evenly balanced the Hillians took the lead in the 19th minute, a long ball from Jade Chapman reaching Maria Bardea who made no mistake in beating Oakwoods keeper

This seemed to give the Hiilians confidence and they started to play more creative football although keeper Casey Dunford was required to take control of her area a couple of times , anticipating well

Towards the end of the half Oakwood came more into the game but Hillians defender Jess Saunders , making her first appearance of the season , used her speed to good advantage to nullify Oakwoods attacks in a hard working back four with Ellie Lawrence, Penny Gittins, and Hannah Harvey

Oakwood came out strongly in the 2nd half with the Hillians determined to keep possession as much as possible to secure a win , and the Hillians back four had to work hard behind an equally hard working midfield.

To their credit all the hard work by the whole team paid off , Oakwood shots were well blocked at times and after playing a nail biting 8 minutes of "injury time" the half ended goalless to give the Hillians a well deserved 3 points .

This lifted them above Oakwood in the table , Oalwood voted Diana Vilciu the Hillians "Player of the Match" whist Manager Mark Bishop named Jess Saunders as his teams "Player of the Match".
