BURGESS HILL TOWN LADIES KEEP UNBEATEN LEAGUE RECORD

Burgess Hill Town Ladies 1 [Maria Bardea ] Steyning 1

Last weeks game lacked intensity, this weeks game was the exact opposite . With both Steynings Manager and 7 of their players being ex members of ours, this league game was always going to be one with a cup final atmosphere about it.

The Hillians made history, fielding players from 3 other countries , Romania, Germany and Spain , with Spanish Marina Sanchez making her debut and, despite understandably being not match fit, nevertheless being voted our"Player" of the match" by Steyning.

The first half was evenly matched with Sanchez fitting in well on her debut , but midway through the half the Hillians suffered a setback when forward Charley Law fell awkwardly and took no further part in the game .

Shortly afterwards Steyning went ahead following what many felt was a harse penalty decision with the alleged offence taking place on the left hand edge of the area.

The 2nd half saw the Hillians marginally on top and Maria Bardea levelled the score after 10 minutes with a shot from the edge of the area going in via the post.

The game became even more intense and both teams battled for the winning goal but the Hillians held firm with Hayley Nash in the middle of the back receiving her managers "Player of the match" award

The whole team worked hard for each other and the final whistle saw both teams go off with deserved applause from their supporters and probably a draw was a fair result
