The Hillians on an unbeaten run of 4 games

Steyning 2 Burgess Hill Town Ladies 2 [Jess Gray , Leonie Diattia ]

This was always going to be a tough match with Steyning fielding some ex Hillians players, and Hillians were not helped by a couple of late withdrawals. The game commenced at a fast pace and Jess Gray had an early shot on goal , receiving the ball from Leonie Diattia , however it was Steyning who took the lead after 20 mins , lobbing the ball into an empty net after keeper Casey Dunford was not able to clear the ball from outside the area.

Less than 15 minutes elapsed before the Hillians were back on level terms , Steynings keeper venturing way out of her area to collect the ball near the touchline , only to see Gray claim the ball and fire the ball into the net from a narrow angle

The rest of the half was evenly balanced with both defences generally in control

The 2nd half started well and from the kick off a move involving Capt Sadie Ashby and Ellie Lawrence saw Diattia being well placed to receive Lawrences cross and score from close range to put her team 2-1 ahead

Hillians delight was shortlived however as within 4 minutes Steyning scored following a breakaway move , a close range lob being out of reach of keeper Dunford

Once again the Hillians played with great determination and worked very hard , demonstrating an ever increasing knowledge of game tactics and fully deserving at least a point .

Steyning nominated Keeper Dunford as Hillians "Player of the match" whilst once again Hillians Manager Mark Bishop selected his defender Hayley Nash as "Player of the Match "

The Hillians take a break from League action next Sunday 20th Jan when they visit Pagham in the semifinal of the SCFA Challenge Trophy
