Burgess Hill Town Ladies 6 [Leonie Diattia, Millie Morley , Jade Chapman, Caitlin Garden , Lotti Pollendine, Charley Law, ] Bexhill Utd Res 1
This was a strange game as it was played as a 9v9 game under a League Rule if a team requests to play in that format for 4 games. In this case Bexhill Res fielded just 8 players for the 2nd week running whilst the Hillians had a squad of 16 [7 subs being allowed to play in this format ]
It took just over 5 minutes before Charley Law scored following a Leonie Diattia pass , and 10 or so minutes later Diattia scored from close range .
Although the Hillians were clearly on top they seemed to concentrate on developing their passing skills and formation techniques rather than having shooting practice and the game looked more like a preseason friendly than a competitive match and half time came with the score just 2-0 .
The 2nd half saw the Hillians in a more positive frame of mind although still not playing anywhere near the intensity of which they are capable .
Hillians keeper Casey Dunford had to come way out of her area to thwart a rare Bexhill attack , and this seemed to “wake up” the team and shortly after Jess Gray went close before her pass to Jade Chapman saw “Chappers” put her team 3-0 up with a long lob .
With the Hillians in the ascendancy when on a rare attack Bexhill pulled a goal back with a high lob from their left wing . This however stung the Hillians into action and a goal within a minute from Caitlin Green restored the 3 goal advantage with Lotti Pollendine adding a 5th via the post .
The game then lost any intensity it had but with just a minute or so to go Milly Morley scored to make the final score 6-1
