The Hillians travelled to "Top of the Table" knowing that victory would see them replacing Lancing's top spot, however it was not to be.
Within a couple of minutes a Lucy Kisielewska free kick resulted in the Lancing keeper and Hillians midfielder Sadie Ashby colliding and unfortunately suffered a knee injury and unable to continue, Olivia Hudson making her debut in her place.
Within less than 10 mins defender Ellie Card pulled a muscle and was replaced by Penny Gittins
As last week it was a fast end to end game on 3G without the Hillians in general showing the form of which they are capable. In a hard working defence Kisielewska and Hayley Nash did well whilst Hillians best chance saw Maria Bardea fire over from a Hudson pass
With just over 5 minutes of the half remaining Lancing took the lead, some slack defending allowing a looping cross/shot to give keeper no chance.
The Hillians seemed reluctant to shoot despite some good build-up play and the half ended with Lancing in the lead.
It was soon clear in the 2nd half that Manager Luis Freitas's half time "chat" had been acted upon. Captain Anika Wilson's corner being headed goalwards by Hayley Templeman but being saved
The Hillians players were all now playing with much more determination in every position and as the game progressed it took on more of a Cup Tie match, with Lancing clearly concerned that they could well lose their lead.
This was a disappointing result and the Hillians must learn to start the game in a more determined "give everything " mode rather than wait until the 2nd half to show their class. Hillians Manager Luis Freitas made recent signing 16 year old Olivia Hudson his "Player of the Match" on her debut
